10th-Nov-2009 06:17 pm - Father Dies During Child Birth

Father Dies During Child Birth

IN ONE OF THE STRANGEST medical mishaps in history, the father of a newly born local boy died last night due to complications during the birth.
The 25 year old male was witnessing the birth of his new joy in life when the child had shot out of the womb so fast, it smacked him square the jaw. The father to be then stumbled back, tripping over a nearby tray of medical tools, piercing several major organs, including the gall bladder.

He was leasurely rushed to E.R. where he died later that night after enduring several hours of nausiating drama between doctors, nurses and interns.
The cause of death was revealed to have been a self-inflicted overdose of morphine after one of the doctors confessed his third affair of the night to the grief-stricken ex-father-to-be.

"i just can't believe it," cries the happy new mother, "we had so many plans. Now they're all dashed away. I'm never going to forget the birth of my son as the death of my husband."
She claims she'll never be able to forgive him, as tears of joy streaked her cheeks.

The formal funeral will be held on the six-month anniversary of the little boy's birth. Ther will be an open casket viewing, with a jumping castle and petting zoo, followed by a eulogy from the widow and the cutting of the cake.

Sadly I shall have to let my business domain name lapse, I can't afford to re register it, I'll have to find somewhere else to host my blog, oh well it was nice while it lasted.

8th-Nov-2009 11:28 pm - A fun and eventfull weekend
I had an awesome weekend filled with some new experiences so i wanted to document it.

Went to Seaworld for the first tim in quite a few years & got a chance to hang with my oldest friends, Raspberry Roo (with Chorca & Zell). Had a great time, haven't hung out with Ras in years for ay signifigant length fo time, and never away from a con. It was nice being on her turf, gotting to see her rays and such. Been to the ray pool a few times, but never bothered to feed them there, only tiem i fed the rays was at Discovery Cove. She got us hooked up though and i fed them. it's fun getting your had slurped up by a ray hehe. Saw the new Dolphin show Blue Horizons, it was...differt, mostly high dives and birds then dolphin stuff, very artsy, taking all the fun of the prior key west theemd show away. We were rewarded by the apearence of their false killer whale though, the big black dolphin, aparent;y due to her age she doesn't do many shows any more, often just one day if even that. Last time I was at Seaworld they still had both, but lsot one a bit back. Beautiful critters. Ate a wonderful meal at sharks underwater grill, awesome food and atmosphere there, the discount certainly didn't hurt either. Only ate there once before with my father. Highly recomend it. It was really nice getting to connect with Roo again and hope it's going to continue to be a more common occurace.

Rode Manta!!!! While at Seaworld, I got to check out the new aquarium and the connected Roller coaster, Manta. it is Florida's only "Flying" coaster as fr as I know. OMG What a ride!!! we did it twice, oce front row, oce back row, waits were reasonable at 15 & 35 minutes. I love the upside down dive, thats pretty scary. The second time i rode it, I got a vicious leg cramp in my hip oooh that sucked, but still loved the ride.

Went to Mach's house warming party. Aparetly I'm not the only new home buyer, Mach got a new place of his own now, nice big peice of land, decent house, like mine, on the older side, interesting lay out. nice place. Mach, and his room mates Cessa and Onye were as always gracious hosts. Apart from a drink I made that tasted awesome but got all curdled due to the irsh creme, was an awesome night. Sitting & listeing to Simba is always a hilight He is pretty close to me, about 6 miles up the road.

Held my first Ferret!! While at Mach's I got to play with and Hold my first Ferret, Cessna & Onye have 2, their slinky lil things lol, they look so fun to play with adorable critters. really flexible. Seen ferrets, but never got to hold or pet one before. I like :)

unpacked 6 more boxes, including 2 that have been boxed since my LAST move almsot 5 years ao, containing my Full Sail books. It's ice watching the full boxes go down and thigns fall into place, if only temporaily, soem things once unboxed still need further organization, like the books. Going through my old Full Sail books, older Con books, older binders full of CAD drawings or renderings was fun too, nice to trigger plesent memories. I cleaned up my wires on my vanity lights too, tucked them behind the book case sheves. Much nicer :)

Played the tmnt turtles in time game for xbox. It is pretty sweetm,l has much of the spirit of the arcade games with new types of level's and way better graphics, ful 3d and neat attacks, nice upgrade and only 800 points :) Yay Xbox Live Arcade

Recent movies:

Bruno: WTF is this movies problem, this has to be the gayest thing ever like gayer then blades of glory or broke back mountain gay. I was engrossed, entertained and appauled all at the same time lol. It was worth ti for the reactions of peopel to this "character" who thought it was real, or atleast acted like they did especially when he talks to the Rev. to try to turn straight or the martial arts guy. Some chick sued saying this movie shocked her soo bad she is now confined to a wheel chair, ? wow

Bedtime stories: This was a cute movie, kids were well played, I like Richard Attenborough, story is pretty nice and well played out, time well spent

Up: Pixar did it again, I was not expecting anything much from it, silly me, underestimating Pixar again. I couldn't see from the trailer how they were going to make the characters endearing, but they did, Once you understaind their motivatios, it all makes sence, well done Pixar

Surrogets: Interesting movie, more or less what I was expecting, good premese and story arks, had a few surprizes but nothing that came so far out of left feild as to be totally unexpected. I liked it.

G-force: It's cute and has talking anthro Guinea pigs beating stuff up :) What could be more fun, and thats all this is, just a fun movie, nothing special, but a good fun cute watch.

Well it looks like christmas this year is cancelled, i've been turning the budget over, under and upside down, and barring a bloody miracle, theres no money for presents, decorations, and certainly nothing extra for food.

bah humbug.

6th-Nov-2009 10:53 pm - here a flounce, there a flounce, everywhere a flounce flounce...
Dear Ex LJ-friend who defriended me in a flounce (we still have several friends in
common so I am sure someone will point this out to you)

I am sorry that you thought I was ignoring you, it wasn't you personally,
I am sure that I have several dear dear friends on here, that I have known for
longer and much better, who think that I am ignoring them, however they, unlike you
realise that right up until 4.30 this afternoon I have been a very very BUSY
Teddy.

I have been up to my eyeballs in studying and just about everything has fallen
by the wayside, LJ, IRC and my blog, about the only thing I have been using is
twitter and facebook, upon which I play games to keep me from going insane.

I am sorry that you had a personal crisis and that I missed the entry on your LJ,
in my defence there have been days when I haven't had time to read LJ at all and I
may have missed many important announcements from many dear friends.

However the fact that I did miss your entry and didn't comment, like you so eloquently
put in your journal flounce announcing that you were defriending me, did NOT mean
that I no longer cared about any of my LJ friends.

If MY opinion was so needed and missed then why didn't you just email me, I know
you have it, you have my mobile number, you could have sms'ed me, you even have
my home phone number, and not many people have that, instead of flouncing
couldn't you have just gotten in touch with me and said "I need your help/opinion/
advice on this important subject".

And even though I was in the middle of studying for my exams I would have gladly
helped in any way possible, however now I am not so inclined, unless you would
like to apologise first for the things you said about me, I may not be the
most perfect person in the world, but I DO care for my friends.

This would be the place for a perfect flounce picture, but I don't have one.

4th-Nov-2009 10:14 am - This week is turning into one of THOSE weeks
Last week I delayed a meeting with a potential new client for the web host business cause I had a tooth abscessing as well as other stuffs.  I just received a phone call from the contact delaying the meeting because her husband is in hospital with a suspected heart attack.  *Prayers for the famil please*

I wasn't looking forward to the meeting, not because I don't want the clientele, but more because it is causing me to split my focus away from Orca Originals.  AMBS will be providing most of the initial fundage for Orca, so clients = money = Missy able to do more stuff to sell = MORE money, but for the first time since I conditioned my self away from hyper-focusing on a task to make me "more" what the employers wanted I am starting to hyper-focus again on a task and switching between things is becoming more difficult to keep all of the balls up at the same time.

I am also constantly feeling tired and can fall asleep at almost any time during the day.  However once the sun goes down, I get a window of energy.

Going with the classics for dinner tonight. Soft boiled eggs and soldiers.

2nd-Nov-2009 08:37 pm - Street art update
I found this adorable mouse:

From Street Art

Judging from the state of him, he must have been hiding under my nose the whole time. At least, because he's so small and out of the way, he hasn't been ripped up like most of the others have been.
2nd-Nov-2009 03:05 am - Doing the irrisponsable thing
So I can fly to MFF for about $270. To do so, would require no use of vacatio,

So ultimatly the questions become:

1) is an excursion to mff from a friday afteroon about 2:30 pm to about noon on Sunday run worth the expense and effort

2) would I have a place to sleep, preferably cheap to free if I did
2nd-Nov-2009 01:54 am - Catching everyone up
So betyween moving and halloween stuff, been busy.

We're finally fully out of the apt , turned our keys in, gave away, threw out or took everything, even got the place far cleaner then I expected both between the back breakign work of my room mate, and the maids we hired. glad to close that chapter of my life, and not look back. As fr as bills from there, got the final electric bill, about $95, and then the oly other unknown is what will happen with the appartment. There were some damage done, and parts that either didn't coem clea, or wasn't cleaned due to lack fo time, equipment or protection. So we'll see what happens regarding a final bill from the complex.

New place, is kinda a mess right now, lots fo last minute moving and other business has pretty well cluttered the place upthings still need to find perminate homes, i guess little by little over the next few weeks will get that cleaned up. Made the first mortage payment, got our couches, they look great and are really comfoprtable, certainly fill the room up though. Livinng room is pretty well set up, all the A/V is in place, hooked up & working, eve mounted the speakers, still gota get the ceter on a shell and get a ceilig fan and soem lighting controlls, but it's fully useable clean and uncluttered. biggest issue right now is the kitchen area.

Furloween was fun, had a good time, got to hang with my friends and suit a fair bit, picnic the following day was nice too, a little borig, didn't have much to do or many to hang out with but it was a ice day to hang outside with a few close friends and a bunch of strangers :)

LAST NIGHT AS MY PARENTS HALLOWEEN PARTY, WHICH WE FURRIED UP PRETTY GOOD, NORMALLY i'M THE ONLY FUR / FURSUITER, BUT WE ADDED QUINCY, MICHEL, BANSHEE, & A FEW OTHER FURS LIKE DAVE RABA DN BELL, oops caps. introduced everyoen to my dad, and he got everyone drunk hehe, uit was awesome, overall pretty sucessful, esp cosiderign elliots was going on too....we'll see how next year works out.

Got the paperowkr for the 8ki tax rebate in, thansk to my room mate, hope to ee that money sooner rather then later so ic an take care of a few things, mixed candy should be asking me for final payment here soon., it would be nice to pull from that source vs credit.

Love my new bed and pillows, it's comfy ad wish i was in it now enstead fo work *yawns* ah well.

Feel liek a vacation si warrented after the move, put aaprt from the xmas party event in early de, not much going o until pandacon 2010, slated for first week of feb, going offically this year for once, so a full week vs just a few days on the down low. week of characters, friends, shows & rides. bring it on :)

I'm still torn between ac and metro, if I do both, goign to make metro a weekend thing, leave friday am after work, and be back sunday afternoon, maybe with sunday night off, we'll see

life is good, .

P.S. russel on survivor is such a ass hehe now with the merdge, it's on baby lets see what ghappens.
1st-Nov-2009 10:20 pm - Fun times
Welp, this past Friday and Saturday was spent with phase one of the new tower move-in. IT and part of our creative department who is on the same floor as us was moved.

Over all, it went pretty quick. It sucked waking up at 6:30 on a Saturday to drive to work but it's worth it. I don't have a lot of pics from our floor but I feel as though it's going to be a great change to how I feel about going to work. Mainly, the fact that we now have a free coke product fridge of our own, an awesome automatic coffee machine to name a few things.

For those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about, here is phase one completed of the Daytona Live! project. The new world headquarts for NASCAR, ISC, and Grand-Am.

Pics of my desk and such )

Halloween was pretty sweet. Ended up carving pumpkins with Spain and Ras before going over to Arctik's for his Halloween party. Drank lots and lots :3

Morning breakfast from Arctik was nice ^_^

The next few weekends are going to be interesting as we are going to be moving multiple floors each weekend. The overtime I've been getting from this whole process is nice but is it really worth it..? $1000.00 paychecks are making me lean towards yes. :P
2nd-Nov-2009 08:51 am - NaNOK.
Oh, alright. I'm doing it. Inspiration struck. Username is TaniaWalker. WHO ELSE IS DOING THIS I MUST HAVE YOUR DETAILS IMMEDIATELY KTHXBAI.

Mine's an urban fantasy. Joe and I developed the idea over the course of a few long walks, after deciding we'd like to see wizards done with a bit of grit. Synopsis:

WANDS
Through a botched suicide attempt, a walking dead man discovers the fading underworld of magical "pullers" and "pushers". His unique abilities lead him into conflict with a powerful enemy, and his only allies are a group of pompous old Englishmen, a hippie girl who may have breathed a little too much patchouli, and a wrench-wielding biker who doesn't believe any of this is actually happening.

I just wrote that off the top of my head, so apologies for the suck. Writing a synopsis is an ART FORM, one which I do not yet possess. Writing a one-sentence summary? Harder yet. I foresee great struggle when the time comes to write a one-sentence summary of the book I just finished.

The puller/pusher idea is one I've been playing with for years, I just never quite found the right story to build around it. Over the years I've tried, with awkward results, to insert it into stories where it simply didn't work at all.

I'm aiming for a lighthearted tone. Having said that, I'm going to be drawing on my experience of depression for the main character. The thing about depression is that it's SO extreme that, once you've recovered from it, it's... god, I feel awful saying this, but it's something you can laugh about. Like being able to look back and laugh about those extreme high-school crushes that made you miserable at the time... It's just such an extreme thing, and in extremities, there is humor.

I don't know. Perhaps it's just a case of "laugh so you don't cry". That was the only way I could process it.

So I'm a day late (and I'm taking today off as well), but I'll hit this target. You watch me.

PS: JB's birthday part on Saturday night nearly killed me. Epic karaoke! Spent Sunday with [info]hammond and [info]sigmoidal_suseq who has a 'button' t-shirt that made me die of happiness. Sawyer has settled in so completely with his uncles that he is, once again, using human beings as furniture. Go Sawyer! All's well that ends well.

Man... I'm so glad I bought Torchlight instead of Borderlands. Spyro-cutesy rampaging dungeon crawl that works great even under Wine and has no issues is a lot better than the game-resetting, config-killing noise I'm hearing about from those that went the other way with their cash.

1st-Nov-2009 11:47 am - Writer's Block: Would you talk to the dead?

Have you ever participated in a seance? If not, would you consider it? What spirit would you summon and what question would you ask them? Do you believe we can get messages from the dead?

Once, when I was 13, a group of us were staying at a friends place, and she had a Oiuji board, now I have no idea if someone was just playing a trick, but it was not a pleasant experience and it freaked us all out, and that was quite enough for me.

I personally have not recieved any messages from the dead, but if other people find comfort in believing that they have done so, I'm not going to naysay them.

31st-Oct-2009 07:09 pm - Remy and Rattus
Remy and Rattus cook up a treat in the kitchen. This photo shoot happened during my last visit to the US back in June/July when I had the good fortune to visit [info]nicodemusrat, who has built his own unofficial Remy. When I first saw Remy at FC last year I almost hyperventilated from the excitement! I was better able to contain myself this time and this photo shoot was the result.

29th-Oct-2009 03:43 pm - Help the folks?
My folks are in the running to get their kitchen remodeled. And they need votes to get it. So I'm asking that everyone who can, could you please take a few seconds out so send a quick email to:
outlawmorningshow@live.com

And tell them how badly kitchen #3 needs to be remodeled. You can mention that the floor looks like crap, there are NO DOORS on any of the cupboards, and the kitchen is currently three different colors of half started painting projects. Or just say that #3 looks bad and needs to be redone.

Thanks guys!

PS here is the link to the myspace so you can see their kitchen, again, its #3:

29th-Oct-2009 06:21 pm - Frustrating
I went to boxing. I was paired up three times - the one in the middle didn't last long untill the trainer rematched her but she was by far the best match for me in the class today. The first and third pair ups were with the same newbie.

I can be patient and I know the rest of the people there are more consistent with going and most if not all are fitter than me. Today however, was the wrong day to pair me with a newbie.

I hurt my hands yesterday. The left particularly. Hitting with them wasn't so bad - kinda like how your tummy muscles feel the day after you do a bunch of situps after not doing them for awhile. I told the trainers which is I guess why they paired me up how they did. Newbie did hit softer than the other girl but she couldn't catch at all!!!

What this means is that the impact on my hands and wrists was at all sorts of odd angles and forces depending on what she did. Not cool. The knuckle between my little and ring fingers is twice as swollen and I suspect more bruising to come... *sigh*

I had a surprise waiting for me at the top of the stairs today. An old uni classmate named Ashley. Turns out we both work in the fields we wanted, both moved back to bris straight after uni and both work in government - he's in education. He is actually learning to box so we will probably see more of each other but he won't be able to be my back up-backup partner when Penny and Tara don't show.

It's a bit frustrating sometimes. Tara doesn't like it when I hit too hard so I don't really feel like I am getting stronger with her and Penny is sporadic at best and I still have a month or two to go before I could comfortably go with the other regulars and they will only get better to. I need a regular beginner boy or a girl who won't get mad if I hit harder, hits hard back and can catch properly.

Any takers???
29th-Oct-2009 09:42 am - 1st Draft Done

Last night (after a ten hour day, and not the first), I finished the first draft of my novel. It weighs in at 130,000 words. It was written in under two months. This is a cheering though re the imminent NanoWriMo.

Today I'll be giving the end a quick tidy-up, as it was written in haste while waiting for a bus. Then my writing buddy Mark gets a digital copy at our writing group meet tonight. Then I'll leave it untouched over November, and in December I'll return to it with fresh eyes, do a second draft, and distribute it to anyone else who's asked for a peek around the end of the year. I'm surprised by some of the people who've asked - post-apocalyptic speculative fiction isn't everyone's cup of tea, after all.

Worried about Nano. It starts in three days. I have plenty of novel ideas but I like to spend a lot of time on research and development before I begin. At very least I'd like to go in with a plot breakdown. I know I can easily turn out 5000 - 8000 words per day, but that's when I have a strong idea of where the story is going.

I'm thinking instead I could use the month to write a series of picture book manuscripts - they're generally under 2000 words in length. This idea has two direct consequences: I'd have to turn out 25 picture books at a rate of roughly one per day, and I would no longer be eligible to compete in NanoWriMo, officially.

I'm okay with point two - I'm not doing this for a bit of paper, or to prove to myself that I can (I've already proven that two times over and then some). I'm not doing it because I need the motivation to set aside regular writing times, as that's already a habit now to the point where I feel odd on weekends when I don't write. Nooo, I'm doing this because I want to develop a body of work asap. No publisher is going to be terribly interested in a writer who only has one book in them.

Point one could be a problem though. I've got maybe six viable ideas for picture books now - and I've already written one of them. That puts me right back at the need to brainstorm again!

For today, I'm taking a break - my brain needs one. My body seriously needs a massage! And on Friday I'm having lunch with Vix, then watching Footloose with Rosa while our boys watch The Machinist in the next room, and on Saturday it's JB's birthday BBQ (though I should have the morning free to brainstorm), and Sunday is reserved for Robbie to come over and play video games with us - though I might have got those days the wrong way around. Anyway. On the upside, I'm heading up to the coast for the next fortnight to spend time with mum, who recently broke up with her partner, and as she does a lot of gardening, I should get plenty of time to write. Even if I have to spend the first few days of November brainstorming and planning, I think I can still manage a 50k novel.

Today: massage. And sushi. :D
